Hi I see I need to do a lot of things to
get ready for sp2 I order the cd.
Now I see some of the notes say to put
in your wxp disk and do a repair to see if
any thing is missing. How would I go about
this with recovery disk. wxp was installed
when I bought it and I have 2 recovery disk
how would I do a repair to see if anything
is missing.
Thanks

Unless there is a specific problem you hope to fix, there is no reason
to perform a Repair Installation.
Preparing for SP-2 is not a reason to run a Repair Installation.
You may not have that capability with Restore CDs.
Check the manual and/or contact the manufacturer for details.

Don't. It is much more to the point to make sure you do not have any
extras running that might get in the way. Do a careful check with good
Antivirus and Anti spyware products (there are good free ones - see
guidance at http://rgharper.mvps.org/cleanit.htm). Then make sure that
background utilities like AV and especially suites like Norton are
disabled, have the regular firewall enabled (or the Internet
disconnected) and then go to Start - run and run MSConfig; uncheck 'Load
Startup items' and reboot, with the machine as free as possible. Then
run the program from the SP2 CD - now out on cover disks of many
computer magazines; and available free on order at

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx

or at the Customer Services of some stores like Staples.

But backup all date that matters to you in advance of doing any major
work like this on the system. You probably will not need that, but
don't take any risks
