HOW TO CONTROL FAX LISTING IN OUTLOOK 2002

J

James Henderson

I have a FAX driver in my Printer list, and in Outlook 2000,
it gave me an (E-Mail) listing and a duplicate (FAX Number) listing.

In Outlook 2002 neither are labled and its very confusing.
Is there any way can I stop Contacts from displaying the FAX
listing and just list the Email?

If that's not possible, how can I get Outlook 2002 to show me
which listing is the Email and which is the FAX?

The standard behavior for the Outlook Address book is to display all
electronic addresses (both fax and e-mail). That behavior cannot be changed.
The only way to prevent the display of fax numbers is to store them in a
different field or to disguise them (e.g., precede them with an alpha
character) so that Outlook won't recognize them as phone numbers.
There are also a number of utilities available that can do this for you
automatically. Some are listed here:

I don't mind listing fax numbers but the way it is done
now is a PITA. In previous versions of Outlook it seems
that the fax number was listed in a second colunm in the
same row as the email address for each name rather than a
separate row, thus producing a single name listed in the
address book instead of duplicate names in the Address
book. Is there any hope that format can be changed?
