how to chage the date field of modified column for archiving

I tried to copy/moved the items to different folder but the modified date
does not change it still remians as "none" is there a way out either to
change the date time field for modified column or to archive the items which
are marked as "none" strate a way? Pls reply since my outlook PST file size
is gone above 3 GB...

3GB is ok for a Unicode PST. There's no risk of you running out of space
yet.
Have you thought about moving those items to the archive manually? Just drag
and drop what you don't need to the archive PST.

Space is not a problem but the performace of the system had gone
down....after archival the performance has improved but the old items marked
with "none" as modified date are still there.

Are you saying that I can move these items directly to Archive folder?...is
it ok & safe....they will reside in archive onle?

Yes, you can move them manually. Just open the archive via file | Open and
move the items via drag and drop. It's the same as using autoarchive but you
just do it manually. No issues involved.
