Manual Archive Problem: "Modified" date

I've read in other user postings that Outlook's Archiving automatically goes
to the "Modified" date instead of the logically presumed "Received" date --
which undermines the instruction that items before a certain date be archived.

Anybody know how to work around that?

For instance, is there any way to select the block of e-mails before a
certain date and get those archived based on their selection instead of the
date? (If not, it would be a good feature for Microsoft to add.)

It wouldn't be logic as then older items you are still actively working with
would get archived too.

You can always move the mail yourself. The archive file is nothing more than
another pst-file.
If you currently do not have the archive file connected to Outlook use
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File... to do so.

I'd disagree with your logic. If I move a particular older message to a
folder because I intend to use it the next day and autoarchive runs on that
folder a few minutes later and removed the message I just put there, how
logical is that?

Buy a third-party addin that gives you more control.
