Hi, I am *sure* that when I had trouble upgrading from RC1>RC2>Final build
of XP Pro, I found a way round the "This version of Windows XP cannot be
upgraded. The option to upgrade will not be available." message.

This time round I have an OEM version of XP Pro SP1 that I know will work
fine if I upgrade and don't lose all my settings.

I seem to recall the workaround involved editing txtsetup.sif but I may be
confused with another fix.

A big prize to the first person clever enough to help me round this! :)

Not really sure what you are thinking of but, OEM versions of XP can NOT be
used to upgrade from any version of Windows. OEM versions will ONLY let you
do a Clean Install.

Not true. In any event, I solved it by going through the bootable CD setup
on the OEM CD and choosing to do a repair.

It's not supported. Keyword "supported"
