Usually the BIOS flash program should give you such an option.

The Flash Update should give you the option to backup the BIOS. Check the
web site for your BIOS - there may be a separate utility available to backup
the BIOS beforehand.

dude
i did a search for my bios on my c-drive and found
OEMBIOS.BIN. it says it 12.5mb how do i save that? and
how do i save it to reinstall it later. how would i
reinstall it later if thing goes wrong? also do you think
that file is my bios?

Hi
Have a look in the manual for your motherboard - it should tell in there how
to flash the BIOS. Mine uses a file called aflash.exe, which when booted
into 'DOS' on a floppy is run and one of the options is 'Save Current BIOS
To File'. Do you 'need' to flash your BIOS for any particular reason,
because doing so without knowing that the update will cure a specific
problem with the motherboard could cause other problems.

i have ibm aptiva 2139e6u..i bought a siig combo card
usb2.0/firewire/10/100/1000 ethernet card. the usb and
ethernet work but the firewire doesnt and i get a
resource conflict error at boot up when the pci card is
in the pci slot.. siig only suggestion was to update
bios.. i found a bios update v66xa.exe on the net for
aptiva 2139 but dont know if it will fix the problem. i
cant find the stats of the bios to what it will fix..
dont ever buy a siig product not great tech support!

on a chip that's on your motherboard. It tells your computer what type of
hardware it has and how to start up among other things. What motherboard are
you using? If you go to the motherboard manufacturer's website there may be a
utility that you can download that will allow you to recover a failed bios
flash. Usually it involves moving or removing a jumper from the motherboard
and running the recovery program from a floppy disk.

That is not your BIOS that you are trying to update. You will not see
that in Windows, and it is only 128K Bytes. You back it up onto the
floppy disk you boot to do the flash, as the first action when you run
the flash program. Then if the actual flash gives any sign it was not
successful, *immediately* run the program again to restore the backup,
*without rebooting*
