How to add text to a Theme

P

point man

I am trying to add to a custom theme in PowerPoint 2007. I want to add
text/footer at the bottom of the page that will appear whenever this theme is
selected.

Any help on how to insert a text box and then save it to my custom theme
would be great.

Hi

Try saving the file as a potx (template) rather than a theme - AFAIK themes
contain font sets, colour sets and effect sets, not layouts & elements on
the slides as these are part of templates.

Nope. Themes contain colors, fonts and effects -- these can be used in Word,
Excel and PPT. But Themes also include slide masters and layouts, which can,
of course, only be used in PPT.

Basically, if you don't need to have any sample slides, then you can get by
with just a Theme (THMX) -- you only need a Template (POTX or even PPTX) if
you have sample/content slides you want to send out as well.

For this user, I'd say adding the footer to the slide master or the
individual slide layouts (depending on the exact need) would be fine.

Thanks for clearing that up for me/the OP, I knew you would if I was wrong
:)
