Adding Custom Colors to the Color Picker in PPT 2007

R

rg @ duarte

I am building a custom template and theme in ppt 2007. I was able to add my
theme colors, but would like to add some additional palette colors. I found
Echo Swinford's tutorial on how to edit the xml
(http://www.echosvoice.com/2007/customcolors1.htm), but have not been able to
get my theme to work adding my custom colors. Does anyone have any
suggestions on resources with even more detailed xml theme instructions?
Thanks!

You might try Hex colors instead of HTML colors. I may have mislabeled
those.

Or is that not the problem?

Echo S

Oh, also meant to say that I'm not aware of anything like those instructions
being published anywhere else.

rg @ duarte

Yeah...I've been looking and you seem to be the only one who has offered any
instructions on custom colors. :)

I put in hex colors, should they be html colors instead?

Thanks!

Ah, maybe that's it. Haven't looked at it for awhile -- it's either HTML or
Hex colors, can't remember which. Try them both and see. If you've already
edited the XML., then changing the colors isn't hard.

But using the wrong color set won't cause the file to not open or anything
like that -- you'll just get colors that aren't what you expect.

Ok well that partially answers my question. My thmx file works fine until i
open up the xml and try to add colors, and then it doesn't work after I have
rezipped it. Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong? I copied the
xml code for adding colors straight from your website....so I know at least
that is right.... :)

If it's not opening, then you've got something wonky in the XML. I'd look
for the ending tags at the bottom of the page. You have to put the custom
color code "inside" the XML, not just tack it on at the bottom.

Ok I will double check that. I ran it through an xml validator and it came
back without errors, so I'm really stumped as to what the problem can be.
