I want to read my email s from my Hotmail account in my local eMail client.

Because Hotmail does not provide a POP3 server one has to use a proxy/helper utility
based on the WEBDAV protocol (as far as I know).

Can someone recommend me a good (and free) tools for such a task
(and how to configure it)?

They stopped allowing POP access last year. So, unless you created your hotmail account before then, you won't be able to access it. Control Control Control! Bow to the hand of microsoft!

I have tried many E-mail Clients and find that FoxMail is the best,
and it will do what you want.

You might check out http://www.boolean.ca/hotpop/

While there are third-party tools you can use to do this, they probably
won't work much longer: Access to MSN/Hotmail accounts via WebDAV will be
replaced soon by Delta Sync.

To access your Hotmail account in OE or OL now and in the future, subscribe
to Hotmail Plus.
