Outlook 2003 constantly prompts for a password to Hotmail accounts

I have my Outlook 2003 configured to access my Hotmail accounts. I have had this configuration setup and working fine since November 2003. Around the October 2008 timeframe, I started to notice that Outlook constantly prompts me for the password to my hotmail accounts. It appears that the password prompt would pop-up whenever Outlook accessed any of the Hotmail accounts. This never happens with any other email accounts other than Hotmail (in my case). I have POP3 and IMAP accounts configured with my Outlook 2003 and they work fine.

Recently, (since the start of February 2009) it appears that the Outlook password window prompts me when a Hotmail account has new email messages.

My Outlook is setup to check for email every 3 minutes. The changes I described above started happening even though I had not made any changes to my Outlook settings.

I've searched this topic throughout the internet with little success on finding an answer. I think something has changed with Hotmail, in the way that the Hotmail email accounts are accessed from POP3 email processors (like Outlook).

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem?

You should amend 'check for mail' to 10 minutes, any less can cause resource
problems.
Do you have intergrated anti virus in outlook?

thanks DL.
Yes I have an integrated antivirus in Outlook (I use Norton).
What I am puzzled about is that everything was working fine prior to Nov 2008, and I have not made any changes to Outlook config settings. My "check for mail" has been set to 3 minutes for about 5 years and it has been working great (up to Nov 2008).
I think something else is causing this problem.
I keep pointing the fingers at Hotmail.
Is anyone aware of any changes that were made to the Hotmail service toward the end of 2008? For example, could the "Live" offering have affected this somehow?

But I'll bet you've maded changes to Norton Antivirus.
