How run only one instance of a program?

Andy

I have a utility program which I want to launch easily so I use a
hotkey.

But each time I use the hotkey to access the utility, I get a new
instance of the program.

How can I set XP to launch only one instance of this program?

That way I hope later attempts to launch it would bring up the instance
which is already running.

If the utility is already running, use the keyboard shortcut Alt + Tab to
tab to the running program.

Hi Andy,

You can't, that check has to be a function of the program itself. Some
programs allow for multiple instances, some have settings you can make
yourself, some don't allow for it.
