how many minutes to install WinXP Pro

Hi
Can someone tell me how long it takes to install Win XP Pro? I am upgrading
from Win 98 on a Compaq Armada M700 notebook with 128mb Ram and 12GB hard
drive. The installation went fairly quickly through the Collecting
Information and Dynamic Update stages, but has been sitting at Preparing
Installation for almost 50 minutes now. The mouse cursor is showing as an
eggtimer but it is not turning over as it usually does when something is
happening. Should I switch the computer off and start again?

tomorrow - its just after midnight here in the UK and I need to get my beauty

Before you turn it back, update the memory to at least 256MB. That really
ought to be the bare minimum.
