How do you turn the auto-tab on for indenting bullets?

After searching both the help section in Word and the Microsoft website, I
have not been able to locate any information on how to thurn the auto-tab on
for indenting bullets. Please help.

In the AutoCorrect dialog box, on the AutoFormat As You Type tab, select the
"Set left and first indent with tabs and backspaces" option (Word 2003, Word
2007).

To display the dialog box: Tools | AutoCorrect Options (Word 2003) or Office
button | Word Options, Proofing category, click the AutoCorrect Options
button (Word 2007).
