How do you selectively install Security Updates?

I have Windows Automatic Updates set to notify me of updates but not to
automatically download and install them. Today my system informed me that
about 9 upates and security patches were available. I selected a couple of
them to download and they were. But I was not given an option to install
them. So I selected a few more and downloaded them but again there is no
option to install them. The update feature seems to want to download all
updates before it provides me with the install screen. It will ask to install
updates upon shutdown, but I don't want to have to turn my system off to
install an update. Is there a way if Automatic Updates is set to "Notify but
do not automatically download or install" to selectively install the updates
you want. I don't know what folder these updates are downloaded to.

Thanks. Norm

When "balloon" appears regarding updates - open and select "custom" install.
You hen have the option to select updates of interest and when dialogue box
closed you will be offered the option not to have the unselected updates to
show up again.

The "balloon" appears and I select some of the available updates. I uncheck
the ones I don't want and the rest are downloaded. But then I am not given
the option of installing them. They have been downloaded somewhere on my
system and the only way to install them is to "Shut down" the computer and
then Windows asks if I would like to install the updates before shutting
down. There has to be a way to install them without turning off my computer.

I was offered 11 updates yesterday but only 1 actually downloaded. Might
this have happened to you? Look in your logfile for <update is not allowed
to download due to regulation>.
