How do you save a .doc so the show formatting is off when opened?

I'm having difficulty with a Word document that is not protected. When
opened the comments, ink annotations, insertions and deletions, and
formatting are all checked in the show formatting toolbar. Even after I
deselect these options and save the document, when I reopen the file they are
still showing on the document. How do I remove these show options on the
document when the document is reopened? Thank you!

this can't be saved in the document, only in the Word application:
Tools/Options/Security, the "Make hidden markup visible when opening or saving"
checkbox needs to be deactivated.
