How do you disable the internet gateway

We have just installed bell sympatico. We are using a
switch to have the computers on the network access the
internet. One of our machines loses the network mapping
to their other drives because under network connections
the "Internet Gateway" is trying to connect. We are all
conecting to the internet independently and not through a
host. Why does this Internet gateway keep looking for a
connection?? Any help would be appreciated. We are using
XP home addition with sp1 installed which is working fine
on another machine. I have set up the "net use" batch
files which work fine up till now.

Any help would be great.
 
I kind of doubt the Internet Gateway is causing your problem but you can
uncheck the "Internet Gateway Discovery and Control Client" in Optional
Components.
