How do you change the default bullet on the task bar?

For the bullet setting on the task bar, my default is a weird looking shape
that looks like a mangled finger. I would like to change the default to a
dark circle or square.

Format | Bullets and Numbering. Choose the bullet you want and apply it. The
toolbar button will (theoretically) continue to use that bullet until you
choose a different one. For greater control, use a bulleted style (such as
List Bullet), modified, if necessary, to use your preferred bullet. You can
apply the List Bullet style with Ctrl+Shift+L.
