How do I view the Archive folder in Outlook?

I am having the exact same problem. When I searched my computer, I did
find
the files but cannot open them. The only program available to open them
is
Outlook Express. I have searched all my installed programs and Outlook
2007
can not be found even though it is installed and I am using it.

Do not open PSTs using Windows Explorer. You open them from within Outlook
itself. File>Open>Outlook Data File.

I have struggled with this question for several years and have never found a
satisfactory way to archive and retrieve Outlook files using utlook
itself...both allowing autoarchive and trying to save personal .ost files.

The work around is to get google desktop (allow it to index your full hard
drive). It can find any specific email or calendar event you want to retrieve
quite easily (sorry, no the Microsoft Search function cannot find archived
items).

Does anyone know how I add the "Archive Folders" into my All Mail Folders
section? I have it, but my co-worker doesn't and she really needs it.

Thank you!!

ok, I figured it out!

File > Data File Management > ADD > Office Outlook Personal Folders File >
Click OK > Choose a name for it > click OK.

File > Data File Management > ADD > Office Outlook Personal Folders File >
Click OK > Choose a name for it > click OK.

Or you can click Tools>Options>Other>AutoArchive and click the box labeled
"Show archive folder in folder list".

Dear Brian,
As mentioned by so many of the Outlook users...we had done all your
recommendation...Open it in Outlook. File>Open>Outlook Data File,
but the Archive folder still empty - nothing inside. Does the AutoArchive
really work? It suppose to make our life easier..by just one button to manage
our mail. CUrrently, it done nothing. Appreciate your support in this matter.
I found that LotusNote is much easier to work with as compared with Outlook.
Is there something else that we suppose to do..?
Thanks...

Are you and "budH", the person to whom I was posting, the same person? If
not, you should start your own thread and give details of your problem in that
thread.

If you see nothing in the archive PST, then perhaps nothing was archived. Did
items get removed from your regular folders during the archive process? Each
folder can have its own archive PST. Did you make sure you were looking in
the correct PST?

I have set the folders in Outlook to autoarchive & am prompted to archive,
but no "Archive" folder is displayed within Outlook.

I had the same problem, but I managed to restore the archive folder by doing
the following steps:

1) click on "FILE" and then click on "ARCHIVE"

2) then if not already ticked, click on box/circle "ARCHIVE ALL FOLDERS
ACCORDING TO THEIR AUTOARCHIVE SETTINGS"

3) then click on "OK"

(I also clicked on "Search folders" in the navigation pane after these
steps, but not sure if had anything to do with getting the archive folders
back)
My archive folders reappeared after I did these steps. Hope it works for
you as well.

Brian,

I am on OL 2003 at my office,....question about autoarchiving;

- I have the archive settings set to show the 'show' arch folder,....I
assume you must first run autoarchive to see it. ?

- Before I archive anything, I want to be sure that when I search the
emails connected to a contact...that I will see archived items in the search
as well. i.e. searching inbox, or while in a contact window...clicking on
activities tab to view all email with that contact....will archived items
show there as well?

Thanks,
Cliff

The activities will be restricted to a single PST, I believe. It won't
include both your main folders and the Archive folders. Since I don't use
activities or journaling, don't consider this gospel, however.

Ok, it sounds like the answer is 'no'. Is there a way I can test it without
doing a full autoarchive? Is there a way that I can take an older email in
my inbox and manually archive just that email? If that is possible, then I
can test the search capabilities from within a contact window and also do a
general 'inbox' search.

Thks,
Cliff

Create a new PST and copy some of your folders to it so you have similar
folders in both PSTs. Test. When does, you can close the added PST.

Hi,

Take a look at the Outlook search-tool Lookeen. With this tool, you
can add system folders, multiple pst´s to the index and search for
them very quick. I think this could be a solution for your problem.

Lookeen can be tested under http://www.lookeen.net (14-Day-Trial-
Version)

I followed these instructions, and Outlook is archiving the Inbox (first - I
assume it will archive other "Personal Folders" shortly thereafter), but
where are those emails that were saved during the AutoArchive process that
has been running since I started using Outlook on my computer 2 years ago? I
am regularly prompted to run AutoArchive, so these emails should be
somewhere...
