Hello. Im running XP Pro and ever since I went to the
Microsoft website to do a full update I've gotten this
blue screen everytime Windows starts that tells me "To
begin, select your user name." I only have one user name
to select so it gets really annoying that the computer
can't just start up and go to my desktop on its own, it
has to wait for me to push the button (which is made of
the picture I selected to represent my administrator user
name. When I click it, it says "Loading your personal
settings" and then goes to my desktop). Does anyone know
how to deactivate this window? Thank you for any advice.

Hi Jeremy,

This was caused by the Net Framework update. It adds another user, thus
revoking auto logon. To change things back:

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

Tip:

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

Most welcome, Jeremy. Glad to hear it and thanks for the feedback.

This script will do it. Originally written by David Candy

If you are wanting more information than that as for the understanding (as I
can't really tell from your question), read the vbscript via Notepad. The
process is explained there.
