How do I turn of the "click" sound when I click on a hyperlink?

I am creating a web page that has hyperlinks to sound files that play when
clicked on. By default, Internet Explorer plays a confirming "click" sound
when you click on any hyperlink. I do not want this click sound to play,
just the sound file.

For an example of what I mean, click on any hyperlink in any web page and
you will hear the short click.
