How do I transfer file names and exact paths to our web host

Lisa W.

Last week I made a small change on one page of our web site in FrontPage
2000. When I went to download to the internet/our web host an error occured
and it is now calling up all images, files, and pages from a directory that
does not exist. The host needs to know the file names and exact paths in
order to restore the site. How do I get them this information? I am
desperate.

I really appreciate any help.

Kind regards,
Lisa W.

Hi Steve,

I can call them and see. Our host is GoDaddy. Are you referring to the
links posted below; fpclean and HitMeFP?

Lisa W.

No, Steve is asking you to post a link to YOUR website so we can see it.

What GoDaddy is asking kinda doesn't make much sense...but they are good at
that.

Hi Lisa,

I used to host a site with Go Daddy - I don't anymore!

But if you are desperate to get your site back [and you only made a small
change recently] - ask them to restore it from one of their backs pre your
small change.

Regards
Steve

Hi Steve,
My employer paid them (GoDaddy) $150.00 to do just that. I waited the
allotted 5-7 days and there was no change in the site. I then got a notice
from them that they need the information that I started this post/question
with. I called them and asked where to find the information and get it to
them and they said "if we knew we wouldn't be asking you". So here I am.
Our web site is http://www.rubberlineinc.com.

Lisa,

I haven't followed this thread, so I am not sure of the problem

Is it that your images are not showing?

I searched for '<img' (no quotes) on you page and there are 20 occurrences
of which this is a typical entry (the first, in fact):
<img border="0" src="../../RubberLine%20Inc./header1.gif" width="360"
height="108">

I wondered:
Do you really mean src="../../RubberLine%20Inc./header1.gif" ?
Or do you mean:
src="../../RubberLine%20Inc/header1.gif" ?

I looked for the latter (http://www.rubberlineinc.com/header1.gif) and sure
enough, it was there

So I suggest:
Do a global change of
RubberLine%20Inc.
to
RubberLine%20Inc

This makes me wonder:
Where is the "expertise" at GoDaddy ?
What are you paying them for ?

I didn't read the original problem. I merely guessed. I wasn't paid $150-00
and I found this in a few seconds.

They SHOULD have known how to check this

Good luck

Open the web site and the page in FrontPage.

Switch to Code View.

Highlight the text RubberLine%20Inc. and then use the menu
Edit->Replace...

The highlighted text should appear in the Find column.
Type in the replacement in the Replace column - or use copy-Paste and
delete the end dot.

Click Replace All button.

If all pages need to be changed, then select "All pages" before clicking
the button. You will be warned that changes cannot be undone.

The %20 represents a space character, and is likely to break links. It
would be better to remove all spaces from folder and file names. With
the web site open in FrontPage, all links should be updated when
renaming the files and folders without the spaces.

Hi Steve,
My employer paid them (GoDaddy) $150.00 to do just that. I waited the
allotted 5-7 days and there was no change in the site. I then got a
notice
from them that they need the information that I started this
post/question
with. I called them and asked where to find the information and get it
to
them and they said "if we knew we wouldn't be asking you". So here I
am.
Our web site is http://www.rubberlineinc.com.

Hi Lisa,

I used to host a site with Go Daddy - I don't anymore!

But if you are desperate to get your site back [and you only made a
small
change recently] - ask them to restore it from one of their backs pre
your
small change.

Regards
Steve

No, Steve is asking you to post a link to YOUR website so we can see
it.

What GoDaddy is asking kinda doesn't make much sense...but they are
good at
that.

Hi Steve,

I can call them and see. Our host is GoDaddy. Are you referring
to
the
links posted below; fpclean and HitMeFP?

Can you post a link to the site?

Last week I made a small change on one page of our web site in
FrontPage
2000. When I went to download to the internet/our web host an
error
occured
and it is now calling up all images, files, and pages from a
directory
that
does not exist. The host needs to know the file names and
exact
paths
in
order to restore the site. How do I get them this information?
I
am
desperate.

I really appreciate any help.

Kind regards,
Lisa W.

I found the code view at the bottom left in the screen. Now the scary part.

Mr. Lawrence,

I understand where your criticism lies. I am a bit disappointed with them
also. I told them I would give them a day to fix it and if not I will be
calling for a supervisor. I will keep you posted.

Lisa,

I'll be pleased to hear when you succeed in fixing this.

I hope you realise that my criticism was of GoDaddy, not of you. If the
error was where I thought, then they do not sound very professional

Mr. Lawrence,

Thank you so much for your input. I have transferred this information to
GoDaddy. I was out of the office last week so I am a bit behind in
responding. I appreciate you so much for your help. I will let you know
if
they can fix the problem.

Kindest regards,

Lisa W.

:

Lisa,

I haven't followed this thread, so I am not sure of the problem

Is it that your images are not showing?

I searched for '<img' (no quotes) on you page and there are 20
occurrences
of which this is a typical entry (the first, in fact):
<img border="0" src="../../RubberLine%20Inc./header1.gif" width="360"
height="108">

I wondered:
Do you really mean src="../../RubberLine%20Inc./header1.gif" ?
Or do you mean:
src="../../RubberLine%20Inc/header1.gif" ?

I looked for the latter (http://www.rubberlineinc.com/header1.gif) and
sure
enough, it was there

So I suggest:
Do a global change of
RubberLine%20Inc.
to
RubberLine%20Inc

This makes me wonder:
Where is the "expertise" at GoDaddy ?
What are you paying them for ?

I didn't read the original problem. I merely guessed. I wasn't paid
$150-00
and I found this in a few seconds.

They SHOULD have known how to check this

Good luck
