Domain name transfer necessary?

I decided to have my site hosted with hostmonster after reading a review on
FrontPage friendly hosting services.

My domain name, however, is still registered with godaddy.

I have been considering transferring it to hostmonster, but I found out that
this is not as easy as I thought. For example, I cannot disable Domain
Privacy in the control panel of my godaddy account, which is – according to
hostmonster’s instructions – necessary for the transfer.

Now, I am wondering whether there would be any disadvantages if I just left
it as it is, namely having the domain registered with godaddy and the site
hosted by hostmonster.

What is your viewpoint?

My viewpoint is you can do as you wish. Good luck with Godaddy. They don't
play well with others.

GoDaddy ok for registrar, not so good for hosting.
Personally, I keep registrar separate from host.

Don't confuse domain registration with domain hosting. There is no
necessary connection between the two.

I like to keep domain registration and hosting separate.
Just change your DNS settings at GoDaddy and point them to whatever your
site hosting company requires.
GoDaddy has some snappy name servers and they seem to update very quickly
when you make changes.
I use them for domain name registration and have more than 100 domains in my
control panel there. They've never been a problem. (I use WildWest which is
their reseller program but it's really the same thing).
