How do I suppress the (automatic) space behind caption label?

Hello!
I created a new label for captions. Word automatically inserts a space
between this caption and the number. I would like to suppress the space or as
an option replace the space character by a non-breaking space. Any idea?

Thank you in advance

Hi =?Utf-8?B?SGFycmlibw==?=,

I don't think there's any way to do this with the built-in tool. But you don't
HAVE to use this tool to insert your captions. Do use the tool to create the
label, so that it will show up in Insert/Cross-Reference. And go ahead and use
it to insert one caption so that you have the matching SEQ field.

Now make the change you want. Select the result and save it as an AutoText entry
in your template, or as an AutoCorrect entry. When you need a new caption,
insert the entry.

Chances are, the numbers won't update automatically, but you can force this by
Ctrl+A, F9.

Thank You very much. It works perfectly, the fields are even
updated automatically when I insert the autotext. And cross-
references to the items work as well. I'm happy!!!

Best regards
