How do I stop CHKDSK

After a bad windows xp pro shutdown, chkdsk now starts on
every boot up. I tried every method I could find on the
web, Kellys-korner included, to stop it but without
success. I noticed that in the 'Winlog' registry
file, 'SFCscan' line isn't there. Has this anything to do
with the problem? My other xp machine doesnt' have that
line either, but chkdsk on it doesn't start on bootup.
I'm getting desparate. I don't want to re-install win xp
as this would a very last resort and a nightmare. Please
help. Thanks

I have the same problem. Also, my windows will not shutdown and my computer
does not recognize any disks when inserted in my CDRW.

....and all this time, I thought my problem was bad. Yours
seems worse. Checkout kellys-korner website you might
find the solutions to your problem there. I had no luck,
but you might have.

That doesn't help unfortunately.
