how do I stop automatic send and receive at startup of outlook?

office outlook 2003 (11.8118.8122) SP2 outloook automatically sends and
receives at startup.....is it possible to over-ride this feature?
i would prefer to make the decision when I am ready....I am happy delving in
the registry if this is required to make such a change

The it's simple. Just turn off automatic polling.
