How do I stop and start Spooler Service on w2000 ?
I have problems with network printer. I recently changed IP address in hosts
file and I hearrd that the Spooler needs stopped-started to see this change

Right - mouse - click on "My Computer" and select "Manage".

Click on the plus sign next to "Services and Applications"

Click on "Services"

Find Print Spooloer in the list and after clicking on it, click Stop then
Start or Restart

That should do it for you...

Thanks, Sean, I managed to do that yet it did not solve the problem

I have a printer installed as local on Destop and shared it. Then added this
printer on Laptop as a network one
It shows up well in the list, even the status is reported as Ready
However an attempt to print cause no reaction in the system.
Trying to right-click on the printer and select Properties results in a
message

Printer properties cannot be displayed. Operation could not be completed

What else should I look at?

from a command prompt, you can also type: "net stop
spooler" then, "net start spooler"

If this still doesn't work perhaps uninstall the printer
and reinstall to start afresh
