How do i set up multiple emails

Hi,
I've set up my Outlook account with three different email addresses and
created rules to sort the emails into the correct folders. If i've had
Outlook running and recieve an email it will be sorted correctly, however, if
i'm just starting up outlook, even if its all ready been open and then
closed, the new emails are not sorted at all. Does anybody know why this may
be happening. My rules are: check incoming email for specific words (email
address) sort into folder (folder designated for that email). i have no
exceptions to the rule. I have 3 rules, one for the three different email
addresses.
Thanks,
Ashlea

You might want to change the condition to; through the specified account

Thanks Roady, but that didn't work either :-S
Any other ideas? Could it be one of my settings somewhere?
Thanks

What type of accounts are you using?
Also what version of Outlook are we talking about?

Include the "stop processing more rules" action on each rule that moves an
incoming message.

Thatnks Brian but that didn't work either.

Roady, It's Outlook 2002 (i think- thats what it says under about outlook).
What do you mean what kind of accounts are they? They're just POP3 email
accounts. I've set up each with its own .pst folders. so am trying to move
the emails to the inbox in each of the different .pst folder groups.
Thanks
Ashlea

Outlook's rules should operate on any new messages that enter the Inbox when
you start Outlook because the rules engine has no idea you just started
Outlook. It just runs on incoming messages. Messages already in the Inbox
when it starts, however, don't meet that criterion, so won't be acted upon,
even if they show as unread. I believe there can be a small delay between a
message arriving and the rules engine running so if you were to close
Outlook immediately after a message came in, I think it's possible to
prevent the rules engine from processing that message, but, if true, it
should be unlikely to catch that small window.

All that to say I can't explain what you see.

Thanks for all your help guys, nothing i do seems to work! Is there a way i
can stop Outlook from automatically checking for emails when it opens. If i
can do that, and then just have to click send/receive i think my rules will
work. Is there a way i can turn the function off? Or any other ideas on how
to fix my current prob. Thanks, Ashlea
