How do I send a fax to a fax telephone number? I have MS Word 2003.

I looked up how to send a fax, but I was confused.

Thank you for your help,

Barry Karas

P.S. I am running Windows XP with SP2.

when the fax is enabled
it functions as a printer
via word.

so when you click print
a "print dialog" box pops up
then you would select the
"fax printer" instead
of your ordinary printer.

than a wizard will pop up
asking for the phone number.

--------------

1) you have to ensure that your
fax service is enabled. it is
listed in services via admin tools.

2) you have to ensure that your
fax modem has a regular telephone
line plugged in to it.

if by chance your internet service is
being provided to you over a regular
telephone line, instead of a cable or
dsl filter, then you will have
to disable (turn off) your internet while
you use that one telephone line for the
fax.

Does your system actually have a fax modem installed? That is the basic
prerequisite.

Then, you install the Fax service from Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs,
Add Windows Components.

Once that's done. from Word, you can choose File, Print, and choose Fax as
the printer. The rest should be guided.

Also, never think that a cable modem or DSL modem can be used as a fax
modem. These are "digital" units which translates PC singals to go
over "dedicated" wires and do not provide a "dial tone" for the fax.
However, you can locate an Internet faxing service.
