Having problems with sending a fax under Xp

Hello

I have a Dell Dimension 8300 running XP PRO SP2. Just discovered I can send
faxes. If I select All programs > Accessories > Communications > Fax> Create
a fax, all appears to be O.K. I can send a fax. If I select Fax Console
instead of Create a fax, I get the blue screen of death. I have to hit the
power off button to restart my machine.

The problems I have encountered occurs in a couple of ways. After sending a
fax, the machine crashes. The same occurs when I go into Help about Fax. It
also crashes. There may be others places, but I did not try it again. The
problems seen to occur when I attempt to send a fax via Fax console instead
of via .

I do my know whether I could send fxes, prior to SP2. Can anyone lend me
some guidance. I never fax, but since I can, I want it to work.

thanks in advance

The fax hardware probably needs a better driver. I don't know if you are
going to find that or not.

Actually that's is what I was thinking too. I was planning to chat with Dell
about my problem, but was just verifying that there was not another thing I
could do.

Thanks

Is .NET Framework installed? It's a long shot, but the
download is free from Microsoft. You might need it for
the Fax console. Otherwise, check out Services in
Administrative Tools in Control Panel. I've found some
weird and unexpected dependencies on services listed
there. Look for possible dependencies and Start up
likely services one at a time manually if they are Stopped.

Thanks for the reply , but I have .NET installed and none of the Services
appear to be stopped.

I have opened up a problem with DELL.

Thanks
