How do i reset the ip address in windows xp

in windows 98 you typed in winpcfg or something like that to reconfigure your
ip address
 
Most networks would use DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) to
automatically assign an IP address to the work station. Even small switches
/ routers have DHCP server inbuilt nowadays. So assigning a static IP
address is probably not the way to go.

Unless you know what you do, I would suggest getting assistance from your
network people.

OTOH, this newsgroup is for Microsoft Access (a database application) and
not general computer access.
