Had to install new hard drive.
Re-installed wWindows 98 before installing XP (upgrade
version).
Selected new installation when asked but found that
Windows 98 has been retained on the C drive (XP is on D
drive).
I have removed '98 from the bootloader and want to
eradicate windows'98 from the computer.
Do I simply delete the Windows '98 directory or is there
more to be done?

Hi,

You simply delete the Win98 directory.

I have removed '98 from the bootloader and want to
eradicate windows'98 from the computer.

You will have to retain the loading files on C:
ntldr
boot.ini
ntdetect.com

As long as you keep those files you can delete the 98 Windows and other
folders from C: and use it for data.

You will have XP on D: still (that letter is now so embedded that the
only way to change to C is to start over and reformat for a clean
install).

Or get 98 back in service by booting its floppy and running
SYS C:
then boot it , get rid of the old XP install on D and run the XP
install again, using Upgrade instead
