How do I reinstall the desktop's network adapter

Thank You Steve Winograd for your answer, y already check the cable, and is correct, is a crossover cable, maybe I can get a solution by your suggestion, that is reinstalling the desktop's network adapter, but I have no idea on how to do that, would you mind to guide me trough this?. Thank You

You're welcome. Open Device Manager in one of these ways:

1. Click Start | Control Panel | Performance and Maintenance | System
| Hardware | Device Manager.

or:

2. Click Start | Run, type "devmgmt.msc" in the box, and click OK.

Click the "+" sign next to "Network adapters", right-click the
Ethernet network adapter, and click Uninstall.

Then, click Action | "Scan for hardware changes" to re-install it.
