I am trying to standardize a report template. I can not lock it because
certain things need to be added by the client and/or technican. All I want to
do is keep the font and the paragraph styles (including bullets and numbering
of items) the same. Is there a way to protect just this without locking it.
If there is can someone please tell me how to do this. Thanks for any help!!

Hello-

One option - If you're usng 2003 (always good to mention version) go to
Tools>Protect Document, then click the Settings link in the top section of
the Protect Document Task Pane. Check the box to 'Limit formatting to a
selection of Styles' and remove the checks for everything _except_ what you
want to allow usage of in the document. When you OK out, click the 'Yes,...'
button in item 3 of the Task Pane and use a password. Otherwise any user can
turn the protection off.

Depending on the nature of what needs to be changed/added by the users, you
might want to consider designing the doc using Sections, tables, etc. to
provide more flexibility yet maintain the integrity of the doc.
