How do I prevent it from Loading at Startup????

Have been looking for the option to prevent the program
from loading at Startup of the system but have not been
able to find it. I prefer to run the program at my
convenience. Does anyone know where I can uncheck a box
to prevent it from loading at startup???

It isn't quite that simple I'm afraid. You can prevent real-time protection
from loading via the workaround paragraph in this KB article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892375 End users may be prompted to allow or
block administrative actions that originate from a central management tool
after they install Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) on a computer that is managed
by Systems Management Server 2003

Bear in mind that the real-time protection is a substantial piece of the
product--and one that needs testing as well--it has lots of potential both
in terms of aggravation and in terms of saving your skin.

You can check Options/Settings, then the General section.

The purpose and primary function of this application when Giant created and
the reason MS bought it was to function as an active agent to block
infestations before they happen, not as a cookie cleaner and cleanup
application.

Thanks for the reply, but ??????????? I fail to see what
that has to do with making it my option to load or not
load at start-up. I have other programs to handle cookie
clean-up and the like.

Thanks for your reply. I run 3 other programs to check
for spyware, etc., every couple of days along with my anti-
virus program. My router firewall stops a lot. These 3
programs were highly recommended by the techies in our IT
Department who oversee almost 4,000 computer work stations
and use these programs as necessary to remove spyware when
a trouble call is placed. None of the programs are
resident at start-up. I prefer to do the same at home.

I'll read the article you mentioned, but, better yet, what
will be the best way to uninstall the program? Having
beta-tested other programs over the years, I know there is
usually no simple way to do this.

I'll just wait for the final version to be released by MS.

Thanks for the help...

There's no simple answer on the uninstall issue. I'd recommend simply using
the uninstall, via control panel, add or remove programs.

This will leave behind several files in the installation directory, along
with a number of registry entries.

My opinion is that these leftovers have some purpose, rather than being
simple bugs. However, if you are sure you can dispense with any trace of
the program, I don't think blowing away the installation directory is
unreasonable.

I have no list of registry entries--I'd just leave them alone and not worry
about it.
