how do i move a contact from one distribution list to another?

I originally sorted email addresses by first name, and have changed them all
to surname, hence my distribution lists are all out of whack, alphabetically.
Hence, I need to be able to move contacts from one distribution list to
another... would prefer not to Remove each one and add them in again. Thanks
for your help.

Sorted them where, and how?
Does these Contacts exist in your Contacts Folder or are they only entries
in your DL?
You cannot move entries from one DL to another. I'm not sure why you need
to.
