How do I make the tab key increase indent in a multilevel list?

In the old version of Word, I could press the tab key and that would increase
the indent in a multilevel bulleted list. In Word 2007, it just tabs over,
but doesn't change the indentation of the bullet (in other words, it doesn't
go to the next level in the bulleted list. How can I make the tab key
increase the indent level to the next level in a list?

Click the Office button - Word Options - Proofing tab - AutoCorrect
Options - AutoFormat as you Type tab. Click to enable the penultimate option
(Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces).
