How do I make it so my files are readable when emailing them?

I do transcription from home for a living. I just got Word 2007. My boss just
emailed me to tell me that she was unable to open my document that I sent her
last night. She does not have the latest version of Word. What can I do? I
really would appreciate anybody's help. Thank you.

Save your files in Word 97-2003 format.

Two things you can do:
1. Save an individual Word 2007 document in Word 97-2003 format. To
do this, click on the the Microsoft Office Button, point to Save As,
click on "Word 97-2003 Format", type a name for the document, and click
on Save.
2. Make Word 2007 automatically save all documents in the Word
97-2003 format unless you tell it otherwise. To do this, click on the
Microsoft Office Button, click on Word Options, click on Save, in the
"Save files in this format box" choose "Word 97-2003 format".

And something your boss can do if she has Word 2002 or 2003 and if she
wants to open Word 2007 files is to install the "Microsoft Office
Compatibility Pack for 2007 Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint File
Formats". This is a free download available from
