How do I link an image to a paragraph style?

I'm working on creating a template, and am trying to have an image import
(note-style) into the margin every time a paragraph is styled as, say,
DocumentNote. I have tried using the bullet-formatting feature, but this
results in a tiny, useless image. I have seen it done before, so know that
it CAN be done, but am not sure how, and numerous web searches have been
fruitless. Help!

The picture will be sized according to the font size associated with the
style.

You may want to set the size to 72 for a one inch-high picture (And reset
the text size to 12, or, set the style size to 12, but when you apply it,
select the ¶ at the end of the paragraph and set it to 42). However, this
will create a lot of space between the paragraphs.

Also, the picture will be lined up with the bottom of the first paragraph
line.

Alternatively, create a frame of the right size (Froms toolbar), position it
relative to the page for the horizontal position and relative to the
paragraph for the vertical position, create a style for that frame and
insert your picture in that frame (In line with text).
Then save the frame and its accompanying ¶ as an Autotext and insert the
AutoText whenever you need the picture.
