How do I insert a Windows Media Audio File into PPT 2002 presentat

I am trying to play Windows Media Files (e.g. pop music) as background music
for a PPT presentation. The files are not .WAV files. PPT Help says insert
the file as an object and the Windows Media Player will play the sound. I
want it to play automatically when the slide is shown - it does not. I have
PPT 2002 and Microsoft XP Media Center Edition and Media Player 10.0.

How do I do this? Where can I get detailed instructions and examples to
guide me? Where can I get expert help to guide me?
