how do I include a word count in my page footer

I need to include a word count on each page of my report, in the footer, can
this be done in word, or do I have to go through each page manually. I was
wondering if a macro would do?

Oops, I misread your question. I thought you were talking about page count.
This shows how to show the word count on a toolbar, but I don't know if
there's a way to put it in the document.

You can insert the NumWords field anywhere in a document, including the
footer, but it will not provide a *running* total (that is, a total for the
specific page or for the document to that point); it returns only the total
number of words in the document.
