How do I get IE6 to be default browser?

For a while, my IE6 had been hijacked. Thanks to advice from this
group, that is fixed. During the time IE6 was not working, I used
Netscape. I have since removed Netscape, but applications still seem
to be looking for it when I click a hyperlink. Some applications have
a preference settting that allows me to set the browser manually,
others do not. I am running WindowsXP pro and IE6
Is there an IE6 or a windows setting that will make IE6 the default
browser?

Thanks in advance

Hi David - In IE6, Tools|Internet Options|Programs check the box that says
"Internet Explorer should check to see . . ." Then when asked if you want
to make it the default browser, say Yes.

OK JIm, I have done that, and no joy, even after a few re-boots and
checking to see if the box is still checked, which it is. If I click
a link in Outlook, it opens the My Documents folder. I looked in
Outlook to see if there was a setting to update, but did not find it.
My Outlook is bundled with Windows Office XP. I did a dedtect and
repair from within Outlook, and that did not help. I also have run
sfc /scannow, No help there, either.

It looks as if the the call is mixed up somewhere, have you any more
ideas?

Thanks in advance,
