IE6 coming demise?

R

Roy

Hello group
Some applications that access through the browser gave me a notice
that I have to update to higher version of IE , ex. IE8.
I am currently using IE6 in a WinXPSP3 platform

Does it mean that IE6 will disappear soon?
What will really happen?
What is really the main issue why some softwares will provide such
notification?
And supposing this browser will be removed or made redundant would the
current version o IE8 is already bug free that it can be better
replacement?
TIA
Roy

You "have to" upgrade or the applications/sites recommend upgrading?

While both IE7 and IE8 offer far better security than IE6, the latter will
continue to be supported in WinXP SP3 well into 2014, Roy.

Those with IE7- and/or IE8-specific questions or comments can post to and
