how do i fix this problem ?

To recover from this error in XP you can use the recovery console (First
when u boot from the XP CD) to run CHKDSK /R. If that doesn't work u would
need to run a repair reinstallation of your OS. And if that doesn't work
(lets hope u don't need to get here) u would need to completely reinstall
your OS.

Hi Paul,

Boot the WinXP CD, run the Recovery Console. From the command prompt, run
bootcfg /rebuild.

Try booting into safe mode. Maybe someone will help you with some other
steps.

This is typically caused by one of two things. If there was an unexpected
shutdown of the computer, then you are most likely running into the problem
described here:

Try booting to the Recovery Console and run a chkdsk /r.
