i'm running office 2003...specifically Outlook 2003 SP2 and latest updates.
after opening, reading, and deleting received mail, i see a message on my
sign on/off screen in XP Pro SP2 with all security updates, that i have " 1
unread message " under my identity. i've done many reinstalls and fixes.
i'm running anti-virus and spyware. after the reinstalls the problem is
fixed but it comes back again to haunt. what's going on? how do i prevent
this error, virus, or spy work from posting the " 1 unread message " notice
under my identity when all mail has been, again, opened, read, and deleted?

thanks for the help. you are deservedly an MVP!
you've helped me discover a "new world"!
