How do I create a 'read only' powerpoint show in powerpoint 2003?

I want to distribute a Powepoint show that can only be viewed, but not edited.
The 'read only' attribute is always disabled in File- Properties. How can I
get it enabled, so I can save to a read only PPS?

In PowerPoint, click on Tools, Options, and password protect your
presentation against modification.
or
Right-click on My computer, choose Explore, double click on the drive that
contains your file, locate it and right click on the file, select
Properties, and click on Read Only

Michael,

My client wants to save a PPT 2003 file as 'Read Only.' She has tried
checking the 'Read Only' box on the General tab of Properties, but the 'Read
Only' selection is grayed out and unavailable.

She does not want to do password protect.

Do you have another solution, or a way to troubleshoot why 'Read Only' is
grayed out?

Thanks.

I'm in total agreement with what Steve has posted regarding read only. I
have no idea why the read only would be greyed out.

If there are no animations in the presentation then you could save all the
slides as image files, then reinsert them into a presentation as image files
which would somewhat stop people form editing your presentation. You could
also save it as a PDF file which would also make it a little harder to mess
with.
