how do I copy text with line numbers?

I am trying to copy text from one word document to another(2003) and need to
either use the existing line numbers or modify a style to accept new line
numbers.
Any help or advice would be very useful.
 
If the line numbers are inserted using Word's Line Numbering feature, they
will not copy with the text. And line numbering cannot be part of a style.
If, on the other hand, you're talking about paragraph numbering, this is a
different issue.
