How do I change to long file name

Help! Can't open, copy, move the file or change the file name. The file is a
Word document. Have tried to open in other programs but it didn't work. What
to do?
 
Have you tried using Windows Explorer or My Computer to:
• Rename the file so that it has a shorter name, or
• Rename one or more folders that contain the file so that they have
shorter names, or
• Move the file to a folder that has a shorter path name.
 
Thank you! I moved the folder with files to an other folder far above and
managed to shorten the surch way. There were too many folders. Now I can
rename the names. Thanks again!
