How do I change the default font color when composing new mail?

When composing new mail messages the font automatically defaults to white.
How do I change the default color?
 
You probably have stationary on it. Go to the mail format in
Tools-options-mail format. and remove stationary and there will be font
options.

PLease note blank is a stationary. set it to <none>
 
see what it's set for in tools, options, mail format, fonts.
 
stationary is set to none and mail format is set to black arial 12 pt.

?????
