How do I change outlook to imap mode from exchange server mode

My installation of outlook 2003 keeps tryiung to access an exchange server. I
am on a stand alone system. I have removed outlook 2003 and reinstalled it. I
am migrating to a new machine from a previous machine with outlook 2003 on it.

How do I remove the desire to seek an exchange server. I've been searching
the KB, but there are way too many hits in the search that don't apply.

You need to remove that email account: Tools | E-mail Accounts | Change...
