I am trying to set up Outlook 2003 as my default e-mail account and to stop
using Outlook Express.
I have followed some instructions on your help pages about removing all the
accounts on Outlook Express and setting up on Outlook 2003 of which i have
done but i am still unable to see any incoming e-mails?

Would this be down to my ISP peharps not being compartible with Outlook 2003
even though i can see the e-mails through Outlook Express.

Any advice would be grateful as this is driving me round the bend.
Thanks

All ISPs that offer POP3 or IMAP access to e-mail should be compatible with
Outlook, though some may not support it (in other words, if you ask them for
help with it they'll say no). You need to follow all of these steps:

1) Make sure Outlook is listed as your default mail program here: Control
Panel | Internet Options | Programs tab.

2) Remove all mail accounts from Outlook Express (unless you can't bear to
part with them for some reason).

3) Disable automatic checking for new mail in OE.

4) Only open OE if you're going to use it for newsreading (Outlook doesn't
have its own newsreader, it uses OE for that), and either open the newsreader
through Outlook (View | Go To | News) or open OE with the /newsonly switch.
This way, all mail functions in OE are disabled anyway, so there's no chance
of using them by mistake.

Jocelyn,

I have tried your instructions today, but I have a couple of Questions, as i
am fairly new to the PC world could you explain further where i find Part 2 &
3 of your instructions ie Remove mail accounts and Disable automatic checking?
I'm sorry to be a nuisance and did manage to do step one okay but then
couldn't find the links for the following two instructions.
Thanks

The Outlook Express help file should be able to guide you through those
steps, and if not, try http://www.insideoe.com for a lot of OE resources and
instructions.
